Summary:Troubleshoot, maintain, repair, replace, adjust and modify company vehicles, vans, pick-up trucks, tractors, trailers and various types of refrigeration, air conditioning and temperature control equipment, including structural metal repair and painting of tractors and trailers, as well as performing road service and preventative maintenance duties following standard accepted methods, practices and procedures in emergency and non-emergency situations and ensuring all safety and quality standards are met. May provide guidance to Mechanic, Fleet Helper. Communicates and interacts with co-workers professionally ensuring questions are answeredaccurately and in a timely manner. Functions as a team member within the department and organization, as required, and perform any duty assigned to best serve the company.Position Responsibilities may include, but not limited to:Performs all preventive maintenance and mechanic work on all company trucks and trailers to minimize the effect on deliveries.Performs oil changes when necessaryLubricates chassis, trans, wheel hubs, rear axles, and 5th wheelsChecks the batteries on tractor and trailersChecks and replaces belts as necessaryChecks and replaces brake shoes as necessaryChecks and replaces wheel bearings as necessaryChecks and replaces clutches as necessaryChecks for electrical problemsMaintains anti-freeze as neededReplaces starters, alternators and generatorsPerforms additional duties as assignedWorks always in a safe mannerPerform general housekeeping duties in tractor, loading dock area and keep trailers clear and clean as required.Performs other related duties as assigned.Click Here for a Job PreviewRequired Qualifications High school diploma or GED. Minimum of two years related experience. Must possess own tools. Valid Driver's License to operate applicable company vehicles Acceptable motor vehicle record in compliance with Department of Transportation regulations. Ability to work any schedule, including nights, weekends and holidays Ability to utilize an on-board computer and desktop computer. Ability to read and speak English sufficiently to be able to converse with the public, understand highway traffic signs and signals, respond to official questions, and be able to make legible entries on reports and records. Ability to frequently lift, push and/or pull weights in excess of 50 pounds, occasionally lift, push and/or pull weights in excess of 100 pounds. Some travel may be required. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. This position must pass a post-offer background and drug test.Preferred Qualifications ASE Certifications (Including Master-T). Trade school diploma or certification.
